New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services Pre-Application Forms
NHDES offers pre-application meetings for large projects that involve 10,000 square feet or more of wetland impact, or that involve multiple-discipline or multi-agency permits, such as wetland impact, large groundwater withdrawal, underground storage tanks, curb cuts, etc.
Do you need permit assistance or a pre-application meeting?
NHDES offers both permit assistance and pre-application meetings, and is available to discuss your project and provide you with the appropriate permitting direction as quickly as possible. As many projects involve Wetland and Shoreland questions and don’t require a larger pre-application meeting, please take advantage of the rapid permit assistance provided below. Pre-application meetings are available for Wetlands Mitigation Projects that involve 10,000 square feet or more of wetland impact, and other Large Projects that involve multiple-disciplines or multi-agency permits.
Permit Assistance:
-
Wetland/Shoreland Technical Questions: If you have a general technical question about wetlands or shoreland jurisdiction or regulatory permitting, please contact (603) 271-2147 and the receptionist will direct your call to the Inspector of the Day (M-F 8 AM-4 PM).
-
Wetland Regional Permit Reviewer: A pre-application meeting for a wetland permit is generally not necessary and can usually be handled with a phone call or an email to the regional permit reviewer. The permit reviewer may ask specific questions and ask to see plans, photos and a brief history of your project. See the Land Resources Management Wetlands Permitting Regions map for the permit reviewer’s contact information in your region.
Pre-Application Meeting:
Pre-application meeting times are based on availability of NHDES staff and other state and federal agencies, if applicable. When scheduling a pre-application meeting, please take into account that staff schedules are usually booked at least 1 to 2 weeks in advance.
-
Wetlands Mitigation Pre-application Meeting: If you have a project that involves 10,000 square feet or more of impacts to wetlands, or if you know a wetland mitigation pre-application meeting is required, please email Rebekah.J.Webb@des.nh.gov to schedule a wetland mitigation pre-application meeting.
-
Large Project Pre-application Meeting: If you have a large development project that involves multiple disciplines or multi-agency permits, such as wetland impact, large groundwater withdrawal, underground storage tanks, curb cuts, etc., you should complete and submit the Pre-Application Meeting Request form below.
You are also able to receive NHDES-wide permitting information or guidance from the Office of the Commissioner by reaching out to the contact below.
